Introduction

Information Systems Division is responsible in ensuring that computer system in the Library Network is fully operational besides providing quality ICT service.

Objectives

• To provide ICT services for the library
• To support effective technologies  that are efficient and high quality
• To plan, develop and operate technologies in the library
• Responsible for R & D that are related to current library technologies eg. Digital Library, various library applications and the use of World Wide Web technologies.
• Work together with IT Center in ensuring that the operations are in line with the strategic plan of University of Malaya information systems.

ICT Services in the Library

• interaktif Web Portal – interaktif is a web portal developed by the Library that functions as a communication medium and information provider to users through web portal technology.
• Application concept – SDI Concept enables personalised content which allows users to select their own subject or field of research
• Digital Collection – University of Malaya exam papers. Effective from 2004, we have started digitising 5000 theses and dissertations.
• Library Catalogue – Web based Library Catalogue which can be accessed globally and provide access to over 1,000,000 of printed materials’ records.
• Provide facilities for 4 computer labs. Each PC has internet access and WiFi has been installed at every level of the library.
