  Information Searches Service
The Library subscribes to a number of online databases, both local and foreign, such as those available from DIALOG, NSTP-Online, SIRIMLINK and PALMOLIS. Online searches may be arranged for staff, corporate and personal members, upon the payment of search fees.

The Library also subscribes to a number of CD-ROM databases. The use of this service is free to all registered members. Searches may be made for members upon request, for a fee.

  Library Orientation Programmes
These programmes are conducted at the beginning of every new semester, where new students are briefed on the services and facilities offered by the Library as well as the rules and regulations of usage, followed by a tour of the Library. New students of first degree courses have to register for the Information Skills Course (GXEX1401), a compulsory one credit university course. Students from the arts and social sciences faculties will follow the course during the First Semester while science and technology students do so during the Second Semester.

  Information Skills Programmes
Other than the sessions for new students, the Library also offers advance Information Skills Programmes to final and postgraduate students. These programmes go beyond OPAC skills and attempt to inculcate independent learning skills in students. Students are not only taught search strategies in information retrieval so that they will be able to retrieve from printed and electronic sources such as CD-ROM and online databases, but also to evaluate information from these sources.
